Why JESUS is Better Than Santa Claus

(Taken from http://www.thoughts-about-god.com/)

Santa lives at the North Pole…

JESUS is everywhere.

-=oOo=-

Santa rides in a sleigh…

JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

-=oOo=-

Santa comes but once a year…

JESUS is an ever present help.

-=oOo=-

Santa fills your stockings with goodies…

JESUS supplies all your needs.

-=oOo=-

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited…

JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

-=oOo=-

You have to wait in line to see Santa…

JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

-=oOo=-

Santa lets you sit on his lap…

JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

-=oOo=-

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, what’s your name?”…

JESUS knew our name before we were born.  Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

-=oOo=-

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly…

JESUS has a heart full of love

-=oOo=-

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO…

JESUS offers health, help and hope.

-=oOo=-

Santa says “You better not cry”…

JESUS says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

-=oOo=-

Santa’s little helpers make toys…

JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

-=oOo=-

Santa may make you chuckle but…

JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

-=oOo=-

While Santa puts gifts under your tree…

JESUS became our gift and died on a tree…the cross.

-=oOo=-

We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

==================================================================

Would you like to know Jesus?

You can have peace and find hope and know forgiveness through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. Praying is simply talking to God. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. Here’s a suggested prayer:

Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to You and ask You to come in as my Saviour and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Bring peace to my world this Christmas. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, pray it right now and Christ will come into your life as He promised. If you invited Jesus Christ into your life, thank God often that He is in your life, that He will never leave you and that you have eternal life.

What is a Cell Group Church? October 19th, 2009

JRVCC

A Cell Church is built on the principle that all believers are ministers and that every believer should perform the work of the ministry.  According to Ephesians 4:11-16 “…God has provided apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors and teachers to prepare God’s people for works of service.”

Such a church is not built around the assembling of all its members, but rather the clustering of believers in “Basic Christian Communities” or “Cell Groups”

Each believer is equipped to do the work of ministry through the Cell Groups.  The Cell Groups may cluster for Sunday Celebrations and groups socials.  The life of the church is in its Cell Groups, not in a building.  While the church has weekly worship events, the focus is always kept on the Cell Groups.

Definition:

Cells are the organisms of the body of believers in small groups for the purpose of worship, experiencing God, ministering to one another, ministering to, and evangelizing the community.

Purpose:

  • To create a Christian fellowship with one another and God that lives among the yet non-Christian community;
  • To let the Light of Christ shine through each member in order to touch the lives of those around them;
  • To bring them to the feet of Jesus and the fellowship of Christ’s body the church; and
  • To teach them to walk in Christ’s steps.

Basic Features of a Cell Church:

A Cell Church is people centered not on programs.

The focus of the church is to meet the intimate needs of its members and non-Christians.

A Cell Church is community centered not in the building.

The ministry of the church is decentralized and occurs in the homes and lives of church members and in the community.

The cell church still has buildings, but the focal point of the church is the Cell Groups.

The Cell Church has a go structure.

The church is organized to go out to meet and reach non-Christians where they live.

The church strongly emphasizes “Lifestyle or Friendship Evangelism.”

1.      Make a friend.
2.      Be a friend.
3.      Lead a friend to Christ.

A Cell Church is organized for ministry to people through the use of spiritual gifts.

Each believer is encouraged to discover, develop, and use their spiritual gifts in the context of their Cell Group.

Strong emphasis is placed upon learning by doing.

Cell Church members have more time to build relationships with and minister to non-Christians.

There is less emphasis on meetings/committees.

The Cell Church is patterned after the New Testament church.

Its leadership style is the servant leader (John 13).

Every member is a minister.

The priesthood of all believers is foundational to the cell church.

1Pe.2:9 is the pattern for all members to be priests for the purpose of proclaiming Christ.

The Cell Church emphasizes relational evangelism.

This involves building relationships with individuals BEFORE leading a person to Christ
